Vestibular Rehabilitation From A Chartered Physiotherapist.
What Is Vestibular Rehabilitation?
Vestibular rehab is an exercise focused approach to the treatment of central and peripheral vestibular deficits. Vestibular rehab uses specific exercises targeted at improving certain areas and functions such as visual motor control, balance, general activity levels as well as reducing dizziness and promoting CNS compensation.
Typical patients who would benefit from receiving vestibular rehabilitation may include those suffering with BPPV, multiple sclerosis, cerebellar dysfunction, vestibular neuritis, Meniere’s disease, labyrinthitis, CVA/TIA and many others.
What We Offer
Treatment of the above conditions will be specific to the individual’s needs determined after a thorough assessment. An initial assessment will determine a diagnosis and includes a variety of head, eye, and balance movements. Three principle methods of exercise within a treatment session include habituation/repetition exercises, gaze stabilization/eye exercises, and balance training exercises.
Some of these exercises will be performed at home while others will be performed in the clinic under supervision of a Vestibular Rehab Physiotherapist.
