What is Ultrasound?
Ultrasound is a form of treatment that works by using high frequency sound waves to treat injuries and pain in muscles, tendons and soft tissues in general. The Physio can alter and manipulate the length and frequency of the sound waves so that they are targeting the correct area and achieve the desired affect. Ultrasound improves blood circulation and stimulates cell activity, which speeds up the healing process and provides pain relief by reducing inflammation. It also provides a micro-massage to the targeted tissues which helps to reduce scar tissue and re-align tissue fibers in their correct order. Injuries and issues that involve scar tissue, pain and muscle spasm, nerve pain and neuroma are all successfully treated by ultrasound.
Depending on your condition, the appropriate type of Electrotherapy will be used by our physio for your treatment. These units are also available for sale or hire provided you have Physio guidance on the correct programmes to follow.
